For most of Brody's life he has been quite laid back, he definitely has his fits like every two year old, but for the most part pretty easy going...
Recently...he has decided to throw a few defiant curve balls our way! The other day I was trying to teach him the importance of taking care of his things. He had left his helmet and ball in our bedroom and so I asked him to put it away in his room. As if I hadn't even said a word...he continued about his business completely ignoring me...he was even humming! So...giving him the benefit of the doubt...kindely...I asked him one more time, "Brody, will you go put your helmet and ball back into your room please?" Again...he did nothing! "BRODY" I said with my voice slightly raised..."You need to go put your toys away!" He turned around pointing his finger at me and a slight smirk on his face he said "you need to go put yowr koys away!" It completely threw me off guard! So I went straight to the counting "On the count of three you get a spanking" I said "On da tount of fwee you det spant'n" he said...his brow now furrowed. By this time...Mike and I were trying so hard not to laugh...course since Brody was turned away from Mike...he could laugh. So I started to count "ONE...TWO..." and before I could get to three...Brody finished counting for me "FWEE" he said and ran straight at me swatting at my bottom! I turned every which and way to dodge him...but he was determined...giggling the entire time! What a silly little boy! Needless to say...we decided we'd change our tactic for that situation and eventually he took his helmet back to his room. He hasn't done that again...but I am slightly nervous for when he turns into a teenager and that defiance gets a little stronger! But for now we can laugh a little while!

That is so funny!!
What a cutie!
Whenever Xander gets in trouble I put him on a chair. After a little while we talk, and he gives my a hug... well, lately he's been jumping of the chair the instant he gets there and pummels me with a big hug! Its like he's trying to cut to the chase and avoid the punishment!
Okay that is really funny. One thing I have tried that works really well with Callie is counting backwards from three that way she knows that when I get to One she is in trouble and get's to time out. I don't kids do what they want anyway. What do parents know right?
Yup. Been there! It's is nice to hear that other kids do it too though!
That is cute you guys! Hope things are going well!
Cute. But not the ignoring you part, right? Bailee has started doing that too. I think I'd rather have her tell me no, than to act like she didn't hear me.
I have a hard time believing Brody would act like that. He looks like such a perfect little boy! And such a cutie! Aren't kids a joy? :)

I don't think you have much to worry about when Brody gets to be a teenager. You are doing the right thing. He is just a little one learning his way and testing the ground. I often think about it as if they are walking on ice and putting their foot out there tapping the ice to see if it is firm enough to walk on!!!! He is looking for the point that the ice will break!!! He certainly wouldn't be normal if he didn't. His parents are awesome and he knows it.
That that from a grandma!!!! Love you.
Been there done that! Best of luck.

Oh,from the mouth of babes. You never now what will come out. I think it is wonderful that he now knows how to count to three though! How cool is that a 2 year old counting to three! I warn Elianna that she is going to get a little tap on her bottom by clapping my hands. She then claps her hands and laughs while shaking her head. You try not to laugh but it is truly funny.
